On Friday, a group of Christian college students and alumni will be taking a break from their regular schedule and celebrating the holidays in an effort to make sure they don’t miss out on the holiday spirit.
The group is calling itself the Calvary College Students and Alumni for Christ and is calling for all students to wear the “No Trumps” hat in the upcoming school year.
“We want everyone to be able to enjoy the holidays as they always have, regardless of their political beliefs,” said Katie Zahn, one of the students who spearheaded the initiative.
“We don’t want our students to feel alienated, we don’t believe in exclusion, we believe in celebrating each and every day as we should.”
The group, which is not officially affiliated with Calvar College, was inspired by the #NoTrumps protest that was held across the country on Friday.
“This was a great opportunity to stand together with the Calvees to create a message that we’re not going to allow anyone to hurt or demean our children and that we love them as we do,” said Zahn.
While the students will be celebrating the holiday with family, friends, and co-workers, the group has also asked people to make their voices heard on social media.
“To have this message heard in this space is so powerful.
It gives the community that is not aware of the existence of these types of communities a voice that they can turn to,” Zahn said.
The Calvarian College Students for Christ website has already received nearly 2,000 likes and has more than 8,500 followers on Facebook.
