Hollywood’s biggest names have already been cast in the latest version of Godzilla, which is set for release in 2020.
In a press release on Friday, Universal said that the film will star Christian Bale, who plays the titular Godzilla, and Mia wasikowski as a pair of “trio of badass, fearless female soldiers” who will have to overcome an array of deadly monsters.
Bale will play the titulant, a giant of sorts who has been responsible for wreaking havoc on Tokyo’s crowded skyline and killing more than a dozen people since the mid-1980s.
The film is also set to feature a female lead in a “very unique” role.
Mia Wasikowski, who has played the title character in other blockbusters such as Avatar and X-Men: Days of Future Past, is expected to play the character’s daughter.
Baldwin, who stars in the remake, will play a scientist who discovers the creature and develops a program that will allow humans to tame it.
“It’s going to be a huge film,” the actor said.
“I love it.
I’m really excited.”
The film will also be written and directed by Gareth Edwards, who helmed the 2015 reboot of the beloved sci-fi classic.
