Posted July 30, 2018 12:23:46 The chef at the centre of the scandal at Coronation Street has admitted he was unaware of a steak house owner’s alleged sexual misconduct when he was tipped off about the allegations.

Christie’s son, Christian Guzman, who has also been linked to the star, said in an interview with Sky News on Sunday that he was “absolutely” unaware of the allegations until he learned of them from a colleague, who was also working at the restaurant.

“I was absolutely unaware of it,” he said.

It was one of the few times I’ve ever heard of a sexual harassment claim, he added.

He also said he did not know of the alleged incident at the West End steakhouse in the days leading up to the episode airing.

“The incident happened in July and I didn’t know it was going to air until I got an email that said, ‘This is an important story’,” he said on Sky.

Guzman has been a frequent guest at the Coronational in the past, as has Coronatium host Helen Boaden.

But the star’s publicist said Guzman did not attend a party on the evening of the episode.

When contacted, Coronavision confirmed Guzman was not at the party, but said the actor was not the host.

Guzman said he was in New York City, not New York, for the New York premiere of his latest film, The Great Gatsby.

The actor has not spoken publicly about the alleged allegations.

“I’m not going to be commenting on any of the things that have been reported to me,” he told Sky.

“It is something that’s been covered up by everybody who knows me, so there’s nothing to comment on.”

He said he and Boadan had met on set and that he had never heard about the claims.

Coronation star Helen Boonen was asked about Guzman’s remarks.

“No, I haven’t heard anything,” she said.

“There’s nothing I can say at this stage.”

The actor said he had not heard of the story but hoped it would come out.

“Hopefully I’ll find out what happened,” he added, saying he was confident of the actor’s innocence.

“He’s the one who’s doing the reporting, and it’s his job to be as open and forthcoming as possible.”

A spokeswoman for Coronations West End restaurant said Guzo did not work there and that the chef had apologised to staff.

However, the spokeswoman said the restaurant was “committed to ensuring that any allegations are handled appropriately and in accordance with all local and international standards”.

Coroner’s questions are still pending, the statement said.

Coronations presenter Helen Bae, who worked with Guzman in The Great Grand Slam, told Sky she was “shocked” by his remarks.

Bae told Sky the actor had apologised “in the strongest possible terms”.

She said Guzos behaviour had “sickened” her.

She also described the actor as “extremely caring”.

“He was very gentle and he was always trying to make sure that we were doing well, that we had all the right ingredients, that everything was going well,” she added.

“But what he’s done in the last couple of days has absolutely gutted me.”
